There are always so many things to do in San Diego that you never run out of exciting experiences. Sometimes you don’t even realize how great of an experience something is even though you’ve been somewhere a handful of times. One of those places was Home Brewing Co. in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego.
Myself and Justin have been here numerous times over the past few years getting the supplies necessary to brew beers and ciders. It is an excellent location for the home brewer and those who may be interested in giving it a try.
They have all different kinds of yeast, hops, and grains. Not to mention all the numerous types of supplies you might need to get things started or continue adding to your brewing supplies. One of the things that we enjoy about the Home Brewing Co. is that there is always someone there who is knowledgeable about any questions that you might have about the process or in help troubleshooting a problem.
The one thing that we have never done until the other day was enjoy one of the drinks that they have in their tasting room. The room has always been there but as the months have past they have expanded their tasting options as well as most recently have been remodeling the shopping and tasting sections of the shop. The available seating area has increased as offers plenty of space for a small group or an individual just looking to have a cold one.
They are currently in the process of remodeling the space for the comfort of the shopper and those there to taste. The process in the space so far is coming along quite nicely and is very inviting. Its a fun space with numerous tasting options to choose from many which have won brewing awards.
On this particular day we visited the Home Brewing Co. with Justin’s parents who were in town visiting. It is a great place to bring friends or family who are visiting San Diego, especially if they are interested in the home brewing process.
On this particular day I had Berliner which was the perfect drink for a warm sunny San Diego day. The Berliner they had at the Home Brewing Co. was the Tarty Boys #3. It’s an Apricot & Peach Berliner that is 5.5% and is absolutely delicious. It was so light and refreshing this is a great beer for a nice relaxing day. It also is great for those who do not like a strong hoppy taste.
Sharks with Lasers was an IPA they had at Home Brewing Co. that Justin had on this particular day. This IPA with its juicy peach and orange flavors has hints of aroma from the London III yeast and the Amarillo & Moasic hops. This bronze medal SDIBF with its low bitterness is also a great beer for the San Diego summer day.
If you are out and about in San Diego and want to stop off for a cool drink, Home Brewing Co. and its tasting room is definitely a place you should add to the list. Home Brewing Co. founded in 2014 is a small brewery that is committed to a variety of styles of beers from around the world. Brewing clean, dry, and nuanced beers inspired by tradition, innovation, and a passion for making some of the best tasting beers.
