Another day and another closure at Disneyland as the park gets ready to make room for the new 14-acre “Star Wars” land. Beginning Monday there will be numerous attractions in Frontierland and Critter Country that will be closing permanently while some will only be temporarily closed while imagineers reroute the Rivers of America in preparation for construction.

Frontierland’s Big Thunder Ranch will be disappearing forever as that section of the park is closed forever as it will be transformed into Star Wars land. Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree are all part of the this section of the park that is closing.

Many of the animals that were part the petting farm have a new home in Murrieta, Calif. The farm already is home to several other Disneyland animals that have made their retirement with farm owner Jenelle.

There will also be other classic attractions at the Disneyland resort that will be temporarily impacted.

 The Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, Davy Crockett Explorer Canoe on the Rivers of America will cease operation for an unknown period of time. 

The Disneyland Railroad, including all stations, will also suspend operations for a period.

Fantasmic the classic show on the Rivers of America will also be ceasing operation temporarily while construction on the Rivers of America is underway. Tomorrow is the last day to see the two remaining performances of Fantasmic.
