Sad news for everyone who grew up with The Brady Bunch as America’s mom has died. Florence Henderson best known for her role as Carol Brady on the classic comedy The Brady Bunch passed away today at the age of 82. She died surrounded by family and friends, her manager, Kayla Pressman, said in a statement late Thursday.
Florence Henderson was born in Dale, Indiana the youngest of ten children. Prior to the role that made her a household name, she began her career with roles on Broadway and starred in the national tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!.” She also became the first woman to guest host the “Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” in 1962.
She became know for most people though because of her role on The Brady Bunch. It began airing on TV in 1969 but has since remained a part of pop culture as it still can be seen in reruns daily.
After he career on The Brady Bunch she kept up her Hollywood roles appearing in The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote, and even season 11 of Dancing with the Stars.
She is survived by her four children.
