A few weeks ago I got to go sightseeing in San Francisco with my friend Justin for the very first time. I immediately fell in love with all the sights and sounds, even though I only got to experience a few of them in the time that I had in the city.
One of the places that he took met to was Clarion Alley in the Mission District. This alley is filled with dozens of colorful murals showcasing differing causes as well as the artistry behind them.
The Purpose
The Clarion Alley Mural Project aims to provide inclusiveness as many of the murals come from individuals of differing backgrounds as well as different levels of experience. Each mural depicting differing topics some providing an artistic commentary on the social injustice happening with the gentrification of the city as well as other injustice happening around the globe. At this point over 700 different murals have been produced as a result of the clarion alley mural project.
Where Can I See It?
If you are ever in San Francisco and you have a little time to explore the city this is one location you should check out. It is just one of the many hidden gems that you can find in this amazing city. You can find the Murals on Clarion Alley which is located between 17th & 18th Streets and Mission & Valencia.
