The wait is finally over for Taco Bell fans as it is Super Bowl day and that means the official unveiling of the highly secretive new product set to launch at Taco Bell restaurants on Monday February 8, 2016. If you were a true fan however you would have been part of the first ever pre-order for the secret product, allowing you the chance to see and taste it two days early.
I headed on over to my local Taco Bell to pick up my pre-orders and was greeted with three Quesalupas. Now what is a Quesalupa you ask well the Quesalup is an item the chain test-marketed in Ohio last year. It has Melted Pepper Jack cheese stuffed inside a flakey, crispy shell. It’s layered with premium seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, real cheddar cheese, sour cream, and tomatoes. I loved the taste of the Quesalupa as I tend to love anything with lots of extra gooey yummy cheese in it, but my friend Justin also loved it quite a bit so It wasn’t just me.
Taco Bell has been hyping the release of the new menu item since the beginning of January and has intensified the hype as the Super Bowl has neared. The ad, which will run in the first quarter will officially announce the addition of the Quesalupa to the Taco Bell lineup. They have been running small teaser ads featuring James Harden, NBA All-Star for the Houston Rockets as well as others.
