If you are a fan of the Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Inspired by Victor Hugo’s novel, then you’ll want to check out the just released soundtrack of the stage musical.
The production premiered last year in California at the La Jolla Playhouse and was a coproduction between that company and the Paper Mill Playhouse.
The Hunchback features some new material that blends well with the original score from the 1996 animated film, by composer Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The album features many of the members that were in the original production that played in California. Thomas Schumacher, Producer and President of Disney Theatrical Productions, said in a statement. “… what a gift it is to have this glorious album to act as an ambassador for the title as it enters this new chapter.”The Hunchback with its emotionally rich score and book by Peter Parnell tells the story of Quasimodo a deformed hunchback of Notre Dame. The bell-ringer at the cathedral encounters Esmerelda a gypsy that changes him for the better. Along the way the two encounter obstacles that make Quasimodo realize everyone has something that makes them an outcast either because of their looks or something else.
