Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for the Dear Evan Hansen movie. Ben Platt reprises his Tony award winning role for this big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
Dear Evan Hansen is the deeply personal contemporary musical about life and the way we live it. The film follows an isolated high schooler who is just trying to find a place to belong, all amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age.
Evan writes himself a letter that is mistaken for a classmate’s suicide note. That letter which was never meant to be seen, snowballs into a lie that gives him a life that he never dreamed was possible.
The trailer features stars Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani.
The 2016 Broadway musical took home six Tonys, including Best Musical, Best Actor for Ben Platt, and Best Score.
Dear Evan Hansen the movie comes out in theaters on September 24.
